Hanging Out for the Summer

Windmill Oaks

Ilene and I have been hanging out for the summer. Although our travels have been somewhat curtailed for the time being due to our recent landing and move to Fredericksburg, TX but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been on the road.

Back in June I wrote how we were expecting a new Oliver Travel Trailer. When I wrote back then we’d just gotten back from Hohenwald, TN and our factory tour. Our trailer began its build on July 19th and in September we leave Fredericksburg to pick it up. That trip will take a week as once we spend our day at Oliver Travel Trailers we’ll then spend three days at David Crockett State Park running the trailer through its paces so if there are any challenges we’ll be close to the factory to have them fixed.

Our Plans After Hohenwald

Church of the Holy Sepulcher

October plans are already in place to travel from the USA to the Holy Land where we’ll spend time in Nazareth, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and then Petra and Madaba Jordan. This is a true pilgrimage as we will be touring with Orthodox Tours which specializes on visiting synagogues, churches, monasteries, and other historic Christian places.

Time between November and April we’ll be spent taking our Ollie out on Texas adventures exploring Texas State Parks and local attractions. We’ll also take a week or so and head out to Las Vegas to visit with the boys and their families while the weather is still cool.

Oliver Legacy Elite II

In May we begin a summer of travel with our first stop at Lake Guntersville State Park in Guntersville, Alabama on May 14th-17th, for the 2020 Oliver Owner’s Rally.  This will actually be our first RV rally and needless to say, as soon-to-be new Oliver owners, we’re excited about attending.

From there we head North to Peoria, IL to visit family and friends in and around central Illinois. We’re looking forward to visiting family and exploring America’s heartland.

Orthodox Cross

Mid June we’ll be in Fort Collins, CO for our annual Parish Life Conference. We’ve heard great things about Fort Collins and will probably spend a week or so there and in Cheyenne, WY exploring.

Finally, sometime next summer we’re looking at another Alaska cruise with family! We’re hoping to get as many of our family members as possible together for a family reunion for the Brewer, Peterson, and Shafer families. At this point we’re still up in the air about exactly when we’ll go since most of our family members are still working but it’ll happen and hopefully we’ll have a great turnout.

So we’re still traveling now and have big plans for the rest of the year. Did I mention that we’ll also be heading to Las Vegas to visit family sometime this winter? You betcha! Since both boys and their families are in Vegas now it’ll make it very convenient for us to see them.

I’ll check back in later and update some of the things we’re doing around Fredericksburg this summer to keep us occupied.
