We’re Expecting!

That’s right! These 60-somethings are expecting a new addition to the family and it’s due in September 2019. On September 16th Ilene and I will be picking up our new Oliver Legacy Elite II Travel Trailer.

While traveling full time over the past two years we’ve kept our eyes open for just the right place for us to eventually settle into. We think we’ve found it with Fredericksburg (FBG), Texas.

The drive to settle in Texas was twofold:

        1. We wanted to be in one place long enough to develop or RV inspection business.
        2. We wanted to be more centrally located for travels around North America.

We’re convinced the Texas Hill Country is just the right spot for us.  Fredericksburg is a nice small town with friendly people. We have PLENTY to do to keep us busy as we’re also very close to Austin and San Antonio and not very far from Dallas/Ft Worth.

  1. Living in FBG we’re close to a world-class hospital and clinics, we’re both involved in local charitable organizations, fraternal organizations and the list keeps growing. In fact, it seems we’re busier now than when we were both working full time!

That being said, we knew when we settled into our new home last November we’d want to get back on the road again. Traveling has been and always will be in our blood. The drive to settle in Texas was twofold:

Since we came off the road FULL TIME we knew we wouldn’t need a big ole 40′ diesel pusher saw we decided to sell the Audie Rose and downsize. A serendipity of downsizing is that we can get into state and national parks that were off limits to our bigger rig.

And that’s what brings us to our Oliver. At only 23.5′ and weighing in at less than 7000 lbs GVWR we’ll be able to go to a number of places designed for smaller rigs. We’d already purchased a Chevy Silverado with a tow package since we had a bumper-pull trailer in mind. With a 10,000 lbs towing capacity and four wheel drive…nothing’s gonna stop us!

Our Ollie’s being built with boondocking in mind so we added the solar package and a couple other “off the grid” extras.

This past Wednesday Ilene and I took a tour of the Oliver factory and…well, I’ll leave that for my next post; there’s a lot to cover.

Sorry it’s taken so long for an update but since we’ve been off the road for the past few months and settling into our new home it’s been a bit of whirlwind here. I’ll start adding weekly updates again and keep folks posted about our travels.

Meanwhile, Safe Travels and Happy Camping!
